Why This Book, Why This Site

Dear Friends,

After years of working with data, journalism, and people’s stories, I kept running into the same problem: India has plenty of numbers, but very little meaning. We see the data, yet often miss what it’s trying to say.

100 Ways to See India began as a personal attempt to fix that. I wanted a way to look at India—its economy, people, and contradictions—without losing clarity. Each chapter is a small visual story, designed to make complex facts thinkable, not just attractive.

The aim isn’t to push conclusions, but to spark understanding and curiosity. Some charts surprise, some provoke questions, because India itself resists simple answers.

I hope this project offers not just information, but a clearer way of seeing data—as something alive, nuanced, and deeply human.

Thank you for reading and looking closer.

Warm regards,

Rohit Saran
